Window View 6: Clappers
A clapper is an archaic bridge made by the laying of large flat stones. Dartmoor maintains many such structures, with the largest at Postbridge, where it stretches 39 feet across the East Dart River. The bridge has been in operation since the late medieval period with the spanning slabs stones weighing over 8 tons each.
